We, as a church, are here to unleash the transforming influence of
Jesus in PV, the Northland and beyond. Jesus transforms one heart at
a time. Are you ready to open yours?
Life is messy, and tough topics and big ideas aren’t meant to be
tackled alone. We need each other to grow and thrive. The studies
offered this semester will cover topics about marriage and family,
care and support needs, and personal spiritual growth. Do you need
some encouragement in these areas? Do you need the reminder that
we aren’t in this alone?
In every journey, there is a next step. That’s true for your spiritual
journey too. Whether you’re exploring what it means to have a
relationship with Jesus or you are excited to know Him better, we
want to walk with you.
So I invite you to take the next step. Consider this booklet a road
map of opportunities where we can grow together. In these studies,
you will meet new people, share your story and open yourself up
to the possibility of a transformed heart. It may feel risky at first, but
when we do life together, we begin to realize that Jesus meets us
wherever we are in the journey.
TUESDAY
Sacred Secrets (women’s study)
9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28-March 4
6 sessions | Room 317
The world is obsessed with telling secrets
for the sake of sensationalism. But not all
hidden things are poisonous and dark.
This study explores secrets: some forgiven,
some covered, and some just between
you and God. Join us as we find out
what happens when we let God teach us
“wisdom in the secret heart” (Psalm 51:6).
Nehemiah (women’s study)
9:30-11:30 a.m. Tues., March 4-April 29
8 sessions | Room 317
Nehemiah’s heart was so broken for those

in need that he left the comfort of his
Persian palace to help them. Are you
ready to let God break your heart for
a hurting, lost world and move you in
compassion to be the hands and feet of
Jesus? Study will not meet on March 19
due to spring break.
women, have one thing in common: the
quest for joy, peace and drawing closer
to God. So close that you will begin to
see yourself from the reflection in His
eyes. His beautiful daughter. God is
proud to call you his very own! Books for
Lord, Give Me a Heart for You
(women’s study)
6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 29-April 9
10 sessions | The Well
The apostle Paul was criticized, opposed,
and attacked. He wrestled with his
weaknesses. He struggled with fragile
relationships. He was often weary, tired,
and discouraged. There are times when
you can identify with Paul’s experience.
In this study based on 2 Corinthians,
you’ll examine the anatomy of a heart
for God. What it looks like, what it feels
like and how you can strengthen your
relationship with God. Study will not
meet on March 19 due to spring break.
6:15 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 29-March 19
8 sessions | West Wing
Our world is on a downward path of selfdestructive
behavior. It’s up to men to
take the lead in raising the standard back
to where God originally placed it. This
book is about raising that standard and
defining manhood as God intended. It’s
about discovering what it means to be a
Kingdom Man.
Manhood Restored
(men’s study)
6:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 29-March 19
8 sessions | Room 311
Manhood will always be in crisis until
Jesus returns. But in Christ, men can
be restored with ever increasing glory
into the undefiled image of God. This
study leads men on a journey through
masculinity, with Bible-study sessions on
the problems men face, God’s solutions,
and the restorations of worldview,
sexuality, vision, and family.
Are you ready for those situations? Are
you prepared to show empathy yet not
enable? This beginning session is the
first of four classes that will be presented
at various times throughout the year
to help ministry partners develop the
Christ-centered ability to care for others
in their groups.
SATURDAY
Care Program
9 a.m.-noon Sat., Feb. 8 (first session)
4 session | Room 314
People become most vulnerable and
open when they are in the group where
trust has been developed. All groups,
including community, care, marriage,
family, and youth, are places where next
steps on difficult issues are often taken.
Are you ready for those situations? Are
you prepared to show empathy yet not
enable? This beginning session is the
first of four classes that will be presented
at various times throughout the year
to help ministry partners develop the
Christ-centered ability to care for others
in their groups.
Have you decided?
After you’ve explored the claims of Jesus and the Bible, you’ll find yourself at a decision point. If you’ve not accepted
Jesus as your Lord and Savior, consider admitting that you are a sinner in need of a Savior, believing that Jesus is the
living Son of God and choosing to follow Him the rest of your life. If you need to talk to someone, talk to one of our
pastors or prayer partners following your weekend service or call the church office at 816.781.5959.
Ready to call PV your church home?
And if you think PV may be the church you want to call “home”, join us at one of our upcoming Membership Classes on
Wednesday, January 29 or Wednesday, April 9 from 6:30-8 p.m. in the Next Steps room. Membership class is where you’ll
learn about PV’s vision, values, doctrinal beliefs and expectations of those who want to join what God is doing at PV.
Want to grow deeper in community?
When God gave Jesus the mission of reaching the world with the good news of His love and grace, Jesus employed a
radical strategy: he poured his life into a small group (his 12 disciples). Life-change happens best in biblical Community
because it provides the place to experience transformation through Gospel-centered Bible study and discussion, share
in life-giving relationships with others and understand and engage in the greater mission of God.
Community Groups are one of the primary vehicles of life transformation at Pleasant Valley. If you find yourself ready to
engage in this kind of community, visit PleasantValley.org, pick up a list of featured Community Groups at the Next Steps
Center during a weekend service or contact Josh Herod (jherod@, x302) or Ryan Long (rlong@, x320).
