The Main Areas Consist of Air Brake Test – (Inside Cab) Inside Cab <strong>Inspection</strong> Engine Compartment – (Drivers Side) Front Engine Compartment – (Passenger Side) Vehicle – (Passenger Side & Trailer) Rear Vehicle – (Drivers Side & Trailer) Underside
Air Brake Check Inside Cab Start air test • Place chock block against down hill side of the rear wheel • Prior to starting engine , pump service brakes until air gauges read about 70 – 80 psi. • Start engine (Ensure Tillerman is in bucket on Deadman switch) Max air • Build air pressure to maximum 120 to 130 psi (at idle) Governor cut out • When air pressure stops rising (at idle) – air dryers may release • Give reading for both primary and secondary air gauges • The maximum cut out pressure is 130 psi Governor cut in • Pump service brake pedal slowly (push and hold for 3 seconds , then release and wait for 4 seconds , then repeat if necessary) until governor cuts in. The minimum cut in pressure is 85 psi. Continually watch air gauge needles for upward movement. • If gauges do not move upward (governor cut in) , continue to pump brakes slowly (as above) release about 5 psi. each time until governor cuts in. • The gauges will start to move upward • Give reading for both primary and secondary air gauges • Build air back to maximum
