Service brake test • For manual shift transmissions ○ All personnel fasten seat belts ○ Put transmission in low gear ○ Slowly release clutch – start vehicle moving ○ Lift hands from steering wheel (Instruct Tillerman to also lift hands from tiller wheel) ○ Apply service brakes pedal sharply ○ Note any movement left or right and equal adjustment of brakes For automatic shift transmissions • All personnel fasten seatbelts • Put transmission in “D” Drive • Start vehicle driving • Lift hands from steering wheel (Instruct Tillerman to also lift hands from tiller wheel) • Apply service brake pedal sharply • Note any movement left or right and equal adjustments of brakes
Complete air test • Apply emergency / parking brakes • Transmission into neutral • Brake check is complete • Keep engine running • Start in cab inspection
