• The 1985-86 team, led by Coach Terry Hall,<br />

defeated four Top 20 teams en route to the<br />

NCAA Tournament.<br />

• The Cats lost a three-point hearbreaker despite<br />

a career-high 24 points and 10 assists from<br />

junior Sandy Harding. Drake hit 9-<strong>of</strong>-16 free<br />

throws compared to UK’s 0-<strong>of</strong>-1.<br />

MEDIA INFO OPPONENTS HONORS HISTORY RECORDS<br />

• The Wildcats were ranked as high as No. 4<br />

nationally during the 1982-83 season but were<br />

upset by Indiana in the first round <strong>of</strong> the NCAA<br />

Tournament.<br />

• All-American Valerie Still had 28 points and<br />

13 rebounds but the Wildcats couldn’t overcome<br />

the hot-shooting Hoosiers. IU shot 64.6 percent<br />

for the game, including 82.4 percent (14-<strong>of</strong>-17)<br />

in the second half. Three IU players scored over<br />

20 points.<br />

• Coach Terry Hall led the Lady Kats to their finest<br />

season ever, a 24-8 campaign that ended in the<br />

Midwest Regional championship, where UK fell to<br />

No. 1-ranked and eventual national champion<br />

Louisiana Tech on the Lady Techsters’ home floor.<br />

• By the end <strong>of</strong> the season, UK was playing so<br />

well that Hall proclaimed, “If we had been in<br />

any other region, we would have been in the<br />

Final Four.”<br />
