Evaluating reliability At HP, we typically test multiple devices in various environmental conditions to evaluate engine reliability. We run the devices to engine life and record the supplies’ life, jam rate, and misfeed rate, continually improving each new generation of HP products. This kind of extensive, long-term testing is beyond the limits of most companies’ resources; however, it is possible to estimate their MFP’s engine reliability. One option is to compare other manufacturers’ lifetime duty-cycle ratings, base warranty (make sure it is at least one-year), and three-year warranty costs. When comparing the HP Color LaserJet CM2320 MFP series with devices from other manufacturers, consider the following: • Will the MFP print legacy print jobs correctly? • Will the MFP perform consistently under various environmental conditions? • After a few thousand pages, is the print quality the same as it was out of the box? • How easy is it to maintain and calibrate the MFP? • When connected to a network, does the MFP print correctly every time? • What is the quality of customer support? 22 Reliability
