GAUGE:<br />

15 sc = 4", working back and forth in rows. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.<br />

To dec Draw up lp in each of 2 sc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook.<br />

TEDDY<br />

HEAD: Starting at front with Color A, ch 2.<br />

Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Do not join, but work in continuous rnds. Mark beg of rnds with a safety pin,<br />

moving it up each rnd.<br />

Rnd 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around (12 sc).<br />

Rnd 3: *Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (18 sc).<br />

Rnd 4: *Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc; repeat from * around (6 inc made-24 sc).<br />

Rnds 5-11 Continue to inc 6 sc on each rnd, having 1 more sc between inc on each rnd (66 sc on Rnd 11). Please<br />

note: this is a fairly standard form to tell how to make the increases. It sets up the first few rounds, then tells you to<br />

continue increasing in the same way, adding that this means there will be one additional stitch between increases in<br />

each round:<br />

Rnds 12-16 Sc in each sc.<br />

Back: Rnd 17 *Sc in next 9 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (60 sc). Rnd 18: *Sc in ext 8 sc, dec 1; repeat (6 dec<br />

made-54 sc).<br />

Rnds 19-26: Continue to dec 6 sc on each rnd, having 1 less sc between dec on each rnd; stuff head as opening<br />

narrows.<br />

(Note Do not overstuff.) Fasten off, leaving 6" yarn end.<br />

Thread end in needle and weave through remaining 6 sts; draw sts together and securely fasten off.<br />

MUZZLE:<br />

Work first 6 rnds as for head (36 sc).<br />

Rnds 7-8 Sc in each sc.<br />

Rnd 9: *Sc in 4 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (30 sc).<br />

Rnds 10-13: Continue to dec 6 sc on each rnd and stuff (6 sc). Fasten off and complete as for head.<br />

EARS: Make 2.<br />

BODY:<br />

Work first 15 rnds as for head (66 sc).<br />

Rnd 16: *Sc in next 9 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (60 sc). Ch 1, join, turn.<br />

Rnds 17-20: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn.<br />

Rnd 21: *Sc in next 8 sc, dec 1; repeat from * around (54 sc). Ch 1, turn.<br />

Rnds 22-25: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn.<br />

Rnd 26: Sc and dec 6 sc around. Ch 1, turn.<br />

Rnd 27: Sc in each sc. Ch 1, turn.<br />

Rnds 28-35: Repeat Rnds 26-27 four times and stuff body as opening narrows (24 sc on Rnd 34).<br />

Rnds 36-38: Sc and dec 6 sc around (6 sc on Rnd 38). Fasten off and complete as for head.<br />

ARMS: Make 2.<br />

Work first 4 rnds as for head.<br />

Rnd 5: Sc in back lp only of each sc around.<br />

Rnds 6-15: Working through both lps, sc in each sc around. When last rnd is completed, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.<br />

LEGS: Make 2.<br />

Work first 5 rnds as for head.<br />

Rnd 6: Sc in back lp only of each sc around.<br />

Rnd 7-16: Working through both lps, sc in each sc around. When last rnd is completed, sl st in next sc. Fasten off.<br />

EYES: Make 2.<br />

With B, ch 2. Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.<br />

FINISHING:<br />

(Note: For sewing, use only short lengths of chenille to prevent frayed yarn.) Sew muzzle to lower front of head as<br />

shown in photograph. Sew base of ears to top of head, cupping ears slightly. Sew eyes to head. For nose, embroider<br />

inverted triangle with satin stitches. Embroider mouth with straight stitches. Sew head securely to body. Stuff arms<br />

and legs; sew to bear as shown so bear is balanced in sitting position. Tie ribbon bow around neck.<br />
