As a result of construction activities residents and the travelling public may be inconvenienced from time to time by noise, mud tracking, blowing dust and traffic diversion. Through the normal development and capital works construction processes Town staff will continue to work with all parties responsible for those projects to mitigate where possible the impact to all residents of that construction. Members can also be seen volunteering at community events such as parades and fairs and assisting in car and foot patrols. Auxiliary Officers will train for two evenings per week and take on a volunteer minimum commitment of 12 hours per month. York Regional Police offers training to Auxiliary Officers in the areas of officer safety and defensive tactics. Although Auxiliary Officers are not permitted to carry firearms, they qualify and train on firearms once per year. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to see the intricate world of policing. This year, the Town of Georgina’s Canada Day Fireworks Display will be lit from a barge out over Lake Simcoe! The area to view the display will be from De La Salle Park and Franklin Beach. Lake Drive will be closed from Brule Lakeway to Salvation Army Road from 9:00pm to 11:00pm on July 1st, 2010. FREE bus service will be available from the Ice Palace in Keswick, Peter Gzowski Library in Sutton and the Pefferlaw Lions Hall. Pick up from these locations is 8:45pm.
