SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING – JUNE 30, 2010
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Corporation of the Town of Georgina
will hold a Statutory Public Meeting on Wednesday, June 30th, 2010, at
7:00 p.m. at the Georgina Trades and Training Inc. (GTTI); 5207 Baseline
Road, Sutton, Ontario L0E 1R0.
The purpose of this Statutory Public Meeting is to consider the proposed
Sutton/Jackson’s Point Secondary Plan.
A copy of the agenda will be available prior to the meeting, and can be
viewed on the Town’s website at www.town.georgina.on.ca

PUBLIC NOTICE • NEW CONSTRUCTION
NOISE AND DUST CONTROL – TRAFFIC INTERRUPTIONS
The Town of Georgina is experiencing growth and improvements from new development as well as local and
Regional capital works projects particularly in the Woodbine Avenue corridor between Glenwoods Avenue and
Morton Avenue. As a result of construction activities residents and the travelling public may be inconvenienced
from time to time by noise, mud tracking, blowing dust and traffic diversion. Through the normal development and
capital works construction processes Town staff will continue to work with all parties responsible for those projects
to mitigate where possible the impact to all residents of that construction.

JOIN YORK REGIONAL POLICE AS AN AUXILIARY OFFICER
The York Regional Police Uniform Recruiting Unit is inviting anyone who is interested in policing
to give back to their community and apply for a unique and rewarding opportunity to become an
Auxiliary Officer.
York Region is of one of the fastest-growing communities in Canada and York Regional Police is
keeping pace by actively recruiting Auxiliary Officer candidates of the highest calibre who
represent all our diverse communities.
This year’s deadline for Auxiliary Officer applications is Wednesday, June 30, 2010.
Qualifications:
At least 18 years of age, Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
Physically and mentally able to perform a wide range of duties
Possess an Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
Standard first aid and CPR level C
No pending criminal matters before the courts
Have no criminal record for which a pardon was not issued
Are not directly involved in activities which conflict with any police service
Be of good moral character and habits
Valid class G licence with full driving privileges
Auxiliary Officers take pride in supporting the regular service in the delivery of community-based
crime prevention initiatives and ground searches for lost or missing persons. Members can also
be seen volunteering at community events such as parades and fairs and assisting in car and foot
patrols. Auxiliary Officers will train for two evenings per week and take on a volunteer minimum
commitment of 12 hours per month.
York Regional Police offers training to Auxiliary Officers in the areas of officer safety and
defensive tactics. Although Auxiliary Officers are not permitted to carry firearms, they qualify and
train on firearms once per year. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to see the intricate world
of policing.

CANADA DAY CELEBRATIONS! FIREWORKS – JULY 1 @ 10:00PM!
In celebration of Canada Day, there will be various community celebrations at the following sites: Keswick Home Hardware, The Wet Thumb,
Jackson’s Point Parkette, Sutton Sobeys, Georgina Arts Centre & Pefferlaw Youth Centre. Each site will have a variety of the following:
inflatable bouncers, face painting, local musicians, children’s prizes, Canada Day souvenirs, hot dogs, Canada Day cake!
This year, the Town of Georgina’s Canada Day Fireworks Display will be lit from a barge out over Lake Simcoe! The area to view the display
will be from De La Salle Park and Franklin Beach.
Lake Drive will be closed from Brule Lakeway to Salvation Army Road from 9:00pm to 11:00pm on July 1st, 2010.
FREE bus service will be available from the Ice Palace in Keswick, Peter Gzowski Library in Sutton and the Pefferlaw Lions Hall. Pick up
from these locations is 8:45pm. Buses will return immediately after fireworks.
