Nitrous oxide • 30 maal meer oplosbaar in bloed dan stikstof: diffusie naar luchthoudende holten met volume-expansie of drukstijging: gasembolen, pneumo-encephalon, pneumothorax, darmen, middenoor… • Volume of pneumothorax will double in 10 min when 70 % N2O is given • Stop immediately with N2O administration if air embolism occurs • Beware with the use of N2O in cavity surgery • Nitrous oxide and intra-ocular gas !!!!! • Nitrous oxide and endoscopic surgery in general : combustion ? ( N2O for establishing e.g. pneumoperitoneum )
