Chester and Margaret Paluch Chair of Theology In 1990, the Margaret and Chester Paluch Chair of Theology was established through a generous donation to foster theological studies at Mundelein Seminary. The first recipient of this honor from 1990-1993 was Rev. Eugene LaVerdiere, S.S.S. Past recipients have included; Dr. Edward Kantowicz, Dr. Ewert Cousins, Rev. Edward Oakes, S.J., Reverend Joseph Henchey, CSS and Reverend Philip Timko, O.S.B. This past two years we were honored to have Sister Sara Butler, M.S.B.T. as our Paluch Chair. For 2012/2013 we are pleased to have The Rev. Thomas Norris as our recipient as the Paluch Lecturer. The Rev. Thomas Norris A priest of the Diocese of Ossory, Ireland. BPhil, Pontifical Lateran University 1965; Academic Tutor, Pontifical Irish College, Rome 1970-72; Doctor S Theologiae, Pontifical Gregorian University 1973; HDE, UCC 1974; Professor of Dogmatic Theology, St Kieran’s College, Kilkenny 1975-84; weekend parish work, retreats, youth work in the Diocese of Ossory; founding member of the Maynooth Patristic Symposium (1984-present); member at various times of Irish Episcopal Commissions for Catechetics, Ecumenism and Theology; currently Joint Secretary of the Irish Inter-Church Meeting; Member, International Theological Commission (From 1998-present); member of subcommittee that drafted the ITC’s Memory and Reconciliation: The Church and the Faults of the Past (2000); member Drafting Committee for the Charta Oecumenica (2001); renewal courses in Theology in Malta (Malta, September 1999) and Pakistan (2004); Visiting Scholar at the University of Chicago Divinity School, (March-July 2004). 34

Albert Cardinal Meyer Lectureship The Albert Cardinal Meyer Lecture Series began in 1984. It was named after Cardinal Meyer to recognize his significant influence on the Church. He was a man of great intelligence who spoke eloquently for the values promoted by the Church. Since that time a distinguished list of speakers has participated. In recent years we have been honored to have Dr. John Esposito, Professor J. Philip Jenkins and Dr. Margaret Mitchell. The presentation in 2007 was given by Rt. Rev. Dr. N.T. Wright, the Lord Bishop of Durham, Church of England. In 2008 the lecture series honored Avery Cardinal Dulles, S.J.. The 2009 lecturer was The Rev. Steven M. Avella. In 2009-2010 Rev. Msgr. Kevin Erwin, S.T.D. was our guest lecturer and in 2010-2011 the Meyer Lecturer was Archbishop Felix Machado. This past we were honored to have The Reverend Kevin FitzGerald, S.J., Ph.D. In 2013 our guest lecturer will be will be Paula M. Stannard. Paula M. Stannard Paula Stannard is a former deputy general counsel and acting general counsel of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), where she oversaw the Food and Drug, Civil Rights and Legislation divisions of the 450-attorney HHS Office of the General Counsel and provided legal advice and counsel to senior HHS officials, including the Secretary of the department, on the issues arising in their respective areas. At Alston & Bird, Paula advises clients on regulatory questions that arise out of the ongoing health care reform effort and focuses her practice on HIPAA and health information technology (including certified EHR and meaningful use issues), food and drug and other regulatory issues in the health care sector. Her HHS experience provides clients substantive knowledge of, and experience in, FDA, HIPAA, e-health and health IT, federal health insurance regulation, patient safety, and public health preparedness and emergency response issues. Paula received her J.D. from Stanford Law School in 1990, where she was an executive editor of the Stanford Law Review, and her B.A., magna cum laude, in political science and Latin from Amherst College, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She clerked for the Honorable J.L. Edmondson of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit. 35

Paula M. Stannard<br />
