The most popular method of achieving moisturization is the use of humectants and emollients. Emollients form a semi-occlusive film on the skin and make the skin feel soft and smooth. They often reduce TEWL (transepidermal water loss) which tends to increase the water content of the stratum corneum. Radia ® esters presented in the table below are excellent emollients and solvents.
