Anne Trefz Gibson ’97 recently published<br />

“Implementing School Concurrency: The<br />

Challenges <strong>of</strong> Adopting a United Vision” in<br />

the Florida Bar Journal. Gibson is a senior<br />

assistant county attorney for Polk County.<br />

Jolee Land ’97 was elected partner in the<br />

employment law regional practice group<br />

in Phelps Dunbar LLP’s Tampa <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

Her practice includes assisting clients in<br />

responding to pre-suit charges <strong>of</strong> race, sex,<br />

national origin and disability discrimination<br />

filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity<br />

Commission and Florida Commission on<br />

Human Resources.<br />

John Staunton ’97 is the incoming<br />

president <strong>of</strong> the trial lawyers section <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Hillsborough County Bar Association.<br />

Joseph F. Summonte ’97 was named<br />

shareholder in the Sarasota law firm <strong>of</strong><br />

Judd, Ulrich, Scarlett, Summonte & Dean<br />

P.A. He practices in the areas <strong>of</strong> civil,<br />

commercial and real estate litigation, as<br />

well as in condominium and homeowner<br />

association law.<br />

Kim Hernandez Vance ’97 <strong>of</strong><br />

GrayRobinson’s Tampa <strong>of</strong>fice was appointed<br />

by Governor Jeb Bush to the Tampa Bay<br />

Regional Planning Council.<br />

Jason Dimitris ’98 <strong>of</strong> Tallahassee has<br />

been appointed chief <strong>of</strong> staff at the Florida<br />

Department <strong>of</strong> Children and Families by DCF<br />

Secretary Bob Butterworth.<br />

Doug Dorner ’98 was honored by the<br />

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation for his leadership<br />

and community involvement at the<br />

foundation’s “Single Greatest Night” event in<br />

Orlando.<br />

Rexford H. Stephens ’98 was named<br />

partner in the Orlando <strong>of</strong>fice <strong>of</strong> Baker<br />

Hostetler. Stephens is a member <strong>of</strong><br />

the employment and labor group and<br />

concentrates his practice in employment<br />

litigation and health and welfare plan<br />

matters.<br />

Todd A. Aidman ’99 has been named<br />

partner in Ford & Harrison’s Tampa <strong>of</strong>fice.<br />

Aidman concentrates his practice on<br />

employment litigation. He also works in the<br />

hospitality industry on compliance with Title<br />

III <strong>of</strong> the Americans with Disabilities Act, the<br />

Fair Labor Standards Act and the Family and<br />

Medical Leave Act.<br />

April R. Foster ’99 joined Abbey, Adams,<br />

Byelick, Kiernan, Mueller & Lancaster LLP as<br />

an associate.<br />

Lynn Hanshaw ’99 has joined Matusek,<br />

McKnight & Burger P.A. as an associate.<br />

She practices in the areas <strong>of</strong> social security,<br />

workers compensation and housing law.<br />

Leslie Schultz-Kin ’99 has joined Carlton<br />

Fields’ Tampa <strong>of</strong>fice as an associate in<br />

the firm’s real property litigation and labor<br />

employment practice groups.<br />

D. Chad Strickland ’99 was promoted to<br />

vice president <strong>of</strong> employee relations at Aaron<br />

Rents. He previously served the company as<br />

senior legal counsel.<br />

Candy VanDercar ’99 was elected to the<br />

new Group 7 county judgeship. She previously<br />

served as an assistant public defender<br />

and a private defense attorney.<br />

2000s<br />

Kimberly Benner ’00 joined Bush Graziano<br />

& Rice P.A. as an associate. She practices in<br />

the areas <strong>of</strong> long-term care, products liability<br />

and medical malpractice.<br />

Charles Gallagher III ’00 opened his own<br />

law firm, Gallagher & Associates P.A., in St.<br />

Petersburg. The firm concentrates its practice<br />

on commercial litigation.<br />

Scott A. Kuhn ’00 opened the Kuhn <strong>Law</strong><br />

Firm in Fort Myers. His firm will concentrate<br />

on real estate law, family law, litigation and<br />

probate/estate planning.<br />
