Beaver County Re-Entry
Initiative
Background
• In May 2004 the Beaver County MH/MR/DA
office received funding from the Pennsylvania
Center for Crime and Delinquency (PCCD) to
develop a Re-Entry Initiative program.
• Its aim is to:
– Increase the number of individuals completing jailbased
and community-based treatment,
– Enhance coordination and cooperation among the
criminal justice system, the courts and treatment
providers
– Decrease the jail population by reducing recidivism.
Target Population
• Inmates released
early from jail due to
being:
– Paroled
– Making bond
– Sentenced
– Paid domestic
relations costs
Aims
• Connect inmates to services
• Prevent individuals from “falling through the
cracks” through liaison follow-up
• Share treatment recommendations with the
appropriate criminal justice system
representatives
• Reduce recidivism
• Save costs
Types of Information
• All information gathered during treatment
including evaluations and recommendations for
continued treatment.
• May include:
– Psychiatric evaluations
– Treatment plans
– Recommendations
– Medications
– Certificates of completion
– Discharge plan
