Description:
This project was begun in May 2002 as one of five Pilot Projects funded by the Pennsylvania Department of
Public Welfare and Pennsylvania Department of Health and was further funded through the Pennsylvania Cooccurring
State Incentive Grant (COSIG). This model initially targeted adults in the Beaver County Jail. Based
on this experience, the model has been expanded to include a Re-Entry Initiative to support continuation of
treatment in the community, and into the juvenile justice systems, through BC-SCORES. This workshop will
highlight the county’s vision, progress to date, efforts to support retention and participation in treatment, and
how the model is being adapted for the adolescent population.
Educational Objectives: Participants will be able to:
• List the components of the models developed in Beaver County;
• Describe how to use data collected for program enhancements;
• Identify the supports needed to help clients to continue with treatment in the community;
• Summarize the outcomes of the projects;
• Discuss opportunities for program enhancement and expansion.
