Focus Groups
• Focus Groups were held in each county before
and 12-18 months after the pilot projects were
implemented to determine program perception.
Questions included the following:
– What challenges will the project need to overcome in
order to be successful?
– What resources/services exist in your community that
may help the project to succeed? What services are
missing that might help the project to succeed?
Provider Focus Group Themes
• Access to COD services by consumers improved
as a result of the pilot projects
• Participation in COD services increased as a result
of the pilot projects
• County providers expressed interest in developing
more dual recovery groups
• Collaboration between mental health and
substance abuse providers increased significantly
as a result of the pilot programs
• More COD housing services needed
Purpose of Pilot Service
Integration Programs
• Increase identification of individuals with
COD through screening
• Increase retention in treatment
• Reduce utilization of high-end services
• Reduce involvement with corrections,
juvenile justice an child welfare
• Increase satisfaction with services
Town Meetings
• Purpose:
– To obtain feedback on existing programs from
consumers, providers, family members and
community members (stakeholders)
– To obtain recommendations for future COD
development from stakeholders
– To educate communities about the COD
program
Service Integration Pilot –
Beaver County
• Case Management/training model
• Provides integration for COD services for
adults diagnosed with COD disorders
while in a correctional program and who
are reentering the community.
