• In 1950---65% of prisoners were white.<br />

• In 1990---OVER 65% of prisoners were nonwhite.<br />

• African -American males are 7X more likely than<br />

whites to be incarcerated.<br />

• The incarceration rate for Hispanics has tripled<br />

since 1980.<br />

• The number of arrests for adolescent females<br />

has increased for most offenses, in comparison<br />
