Historically, however, treatment has not been effectively integrated in treating these disorders. This workshop explores research about the prevalence of these co-occurring disorders, as well as gender issues and effective treatment approaches. Educational Objectives: Participants will be able to: • Describe mood disorders in the DSM-IV-TR and their risk factors for substance use disorders; • Review gender issues both in assessment and treatment; • Discuss evidence-based treatment components across treatment settings for these co-occurring disorders.
