THE EVENTS THAT STOPPED A NATION<br />

Channel Seven will celebrate television’s <strong>50</strong> th birthday on <strong>the</strong> actual anniversary weekend, Sunday September 17, with a<br />
three hour live black tie event at Star City Casino in Sydney.<br />
TV TURNS <strong>50</strong>: THE EVENTS THAT STOPPED A NATION will be hosted by Australia’s number one breakfast duo<br />
MELISSA DOYLE and DAVID KOCH and will be broadcast around <strong>the</strong> country.<br />
KOCHIE and MEL will be joined by special guest hosts including Hollywood A-List <strong>star</strong>s WILL FERRELL and Oscar<br />
nominee JOHN C. REILLY. The DADDO bro<strong>the</strong>rs will also be reunited with CAMERON flying out from LA to join ANDREW<br />
and LOCHIE live on stage.<br />
O<strong>the</strong>r well known Australian identities taking part in <strong>the</strong> spectacular event include BUD TINGWELL, LISA McCUNE,<br />
MALCOLM FRASER, LINDY CHAMBERLAIN-CREIGHTON, STUART DIVER, ALAN BOND, DENISE DRYSDALE, NIKKI<br />
WEBSTER, SUSIE O’NEILL, MOLLY MELDRUM, BABY JOHN BURGESS, GLENN A BAKER, THE WIGGLES and<br />
AGRO just to name a few.<br />
The evening will begin with <strong>all</strong> <strong>the</strong> glitz and glamour of <strong>the</strong> red carpet, hosted by SONIA KRUGER, and will <strong>the</strong>n continue<br />
with <strong>the</strong> countdown of <strong>the</strong> top 20 TV moments from <strong>the</strong> past half-century as voted by <strong>the</strong> Australian public.<br />
While <strong>the</strong> 20 moments will be kept secret until <strong>the</strong> night, <strong>the</strong>y cover a broad spectrum of <strong>events</strong> – everything from natural<br />
disasters, terrorist attacks, sporting triumphs, and moments <strong>that</strong> touched our hearts. Every moment includes interviews<br />
with people who were <strong>the</strong>re – first hand accounts of <strong>events</strong> <strong>that</strong> changed our lives.<br />
During <strong>the</strong> evening <strong>the</strong>re will be a reunion of <strong>the</strong> original A Country Practice cast plus live per<strong>for</strong>mances from GUY<br />
SEBASTIAN, THE WHITLAMS, GANGGAJANG, ERIKA HEYNATZ, THE YOUNG DIVAS, CHRISTINE ANU and a special<br />
tribute to Elvis Presley by DAVID CAMPBELL and HUMAN NATURE. Also singing on <strong>the</strong> night are Channel Seven <strong>star</strong>s<br />
ANDREW O’KEEFE, SIMON REEVE, MARK FURZE and TIM CAMPBELL.
For <strong>the</strong> very first time, <strong>the</strong> four judges from Dancing with <strong>the</strong> Stars – TODD McKENNEY, PAUL MERCURIO, HELEN<br />
RICHEY and MARK WILSON – will take to <strong>the</strong> floor. They will be s<strong>up</strong>ported by Chong Lim and his full orchestra.<br />
The finale is not to be missed ei<strong>the</strong>r. More than 70 per<strong>for</strong>mers will take to <strong>the</strong> stage including <strong>the</strong> Australian Youth Choir<br />
and Gold Logie winner JOHN WOOD on lead vocals.<br />
