Steam ovens – Features and benefits ABC of vitamins and nutrients Steam cooking is vastly superior to traditional cooking for vegetables in terms of preserving delicate nutrients, minerals and trace elements. Because the food is not immersed in liquid, colours do not leach out and the 13 vitamins and nutrients essential to the human body are retained with virtually no loss. The retention of sensory properties such as flavour, colour, shape and texture is also improved. Tasting is believing! Healthy living Steam ovens are ideal for those who enjoy eating healthily, or for those who simply value speed, convenience and great results every time. They are perfect partners to a hob and oven, and whether you are cooking individual side dishes or a complete menu, there is virtually no limit to what can be cooked in a steam oven. They can also be used to defrost, re-heat food, blanch and stew food and can even be used for a range of other tasks like sterilising jam jars and bottles. Low fat and low sodium diets With steam cooking there is no need to use oils and fat or to add salt and seasoning. Steamed food simply tastes terrific and can be enjoyed in its most natural state with nothing extra added. Automatic descaling programme To keep your oven in pristine condition it needs to be descaled from time to time. Miele steam ovens will remind you when this needs to be done and prompt you on how to do it. Oven interior The oven has stainless steel cavity walls making them very easy to keep clean. Cooking functions Cook Universal This setting is ideal for cooking food which can tolerate high temperatures and for food such as pulses and rice which need to be brought to the boil. Defrost This setting takes advantage of low temperature steaming for quickly defrosting frozen food. Cook Fish This setting uses a low temperature to steam your fish to perfection. Reheating This setting is ideal for re-heating soups, plated meals and much more. Cook Vegetables This setting is suitable for all sorts of vegetables including cauliflower, broccoli, peas and asparagus. Cook Meat/Poultry This setting with a temperature of 100°C is ideal for most meat and poultry. User programmes This function enables you to programme up to 30 of your favourite dishes. By entering the function, time and temperature and saving these settings to a name of your choice your favourite dishes can be made time and time again with the same excellent results. Automatic programmes and menu cooking (DG 5061) With around 75 automatic programmes, there are scores of dishes to choose from, making temperature, time and function settings unnecessary. N.B.
