This intermediate-to-advanced course will explore drawing and sketching from<br />

excursions, hikes, field-trips and from directed internet research. A portfolio <strong>of</strong> drawings<br />

will be assembled using traditional drawing media. Students will also execute large<br />

collaborative drawings made through shared interactions and responses under the<br />

direction <strong>of</strong> the instructor. All drawing in this course will emphasize use <strong>of</strong> imagery<br />

based on <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Northwood’s environment.<br />

Ichthyology<br />

4 Credits<br />

Ichthyology is the study <strong>of</strong> fishes in the very broadest sense and deals with many<br />

aspects <strong>of</strong> their biology. This course will emphasize the taxonomy, classification,<br />

morphology, distribution, general ecology and evolution <strong>of</strong> fishes. <strong>Wisconsin</strong> is home<br />

to over 150 species <strong>of</strong> native freshwater fishes as well as an increasing number<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>for</strong>eign invaders (e.g., round gobies and bighead carp); thus, much attention will<br />

be placed on the diversity at hand (i.e, local fishes). This unique 4 week summer<br />

course will occur from May 21 - June 15. Visits will be made to a local fish hatchery<br />

where participants will discover how the <strong>Wisconsin</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> Natural Resources<br />

manages fish populations.<br />

displayed in the classroom. We will identify behaviors, discuss cause and effect and<br />

This MFA in Design was created to help graduates thrive in a competitive global<br />

environment, respond to the increasing demand <strong>for</strong> creative pr<strong>of</strong>essionals, develop<br />

leaders in evidence-based design and be at the <strong>for</strong>efront <strong>of</strong> the search <strong>for</strong> sustainability.<br />

Graduates <strong>of</strong> this new model <strong>for</strong> education will become innovative, critical thinkers who<br />

The MFA in Design is a 60 credit, terminal creative degree — the highest possible degree<br />

creative thesis requirements, students will customize the greater portion <strong>of</strong> the program<br />

Since 1918, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wisconsin</strong>-<strong>Stout</strong> has been a pioneer in preparing quality<br />

Teachers in Northern <strong>Wisconsin</strong><br />

With the federal legislation mandate requiring Head Start teachers to earn bachelor’s<br />

degrees by 2013, <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wisconsin</strong>-<strong>Stout</strong> is meeting a critical need by bringing their<br />

nationally recognized Early Childhood Education degree program to Head Start teachers<br />

living in Northern <strong>Wisconsin</strong>. Courses are delivered in a traditional classroom and allow <strong>for</strong><br />

degree completion while working full-time. UW-<strong>Stout</strong>’s Early Childhood Education program<br />

The BS in Sustainable Management is a 63-credit online degree completion program. It<br />

is <strong>of</strong>fered collaboratively by four <strong>University</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Wisconsin</strong> campuses, including UW-<strong>Stout</strong>.<br />

This is an interdisciplinary program that helps students gain a broad understanding <strong>of</strong><br />

Categorical licensure program is a specially<br />

designed cohort program <strong>for</strong> delivering services<br />

environments. The certification provides advanced<br />

study to licensed teachers and to teachers<br />

The Human Resource Management certificate<br />

program provides a broad base <strong>of</strong> knowledge Online<br />

management competencies. The coursework<br />

Fundamentals <strong>of</strong> conventional and digital photography, camera<br />

techniques, composition, aesthetics, exposure, and light in relation<br />

to animals, plants, water, weather and landscapes. Emphasis on<br />

appropriate photographic equipment and field techniques <strong>for</strong> nature<br />

photography. Student must provide an adjustable camera and their<br />

own transportation to Denver, Colorado.<br />

Tuition: $762.99 WI UG or $1,078.20 WI GR; plus $20 course fee.<br />

Tuition and course fee will be billed to Access <strong>Stout</strong> account.<br />

Room and Board Fee: The $575 cost <strong>for</strong> lodging, food, and permit<br />

fees while in Colorado must be paid in full prior to the course start<br />

date. A $200 nonrefundable portion must be received by June 1 to<br />

hold a place in the course. The remainder <strong>of</strong> the fee must be paid<br />

by July 1. This fee must be made by separate check submitted to<br />
