The <strong>Clare</strong> <strong>Boothe</strong> <strong>Luce</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> for<br />

Women in Science and Mathematics<br />

<strong>Marymount</strong> <strong>University</strong> is one of 13 designated institutions in the <strong>Clare</strong> <strong>Boothe</strong> <strong>Luce</strong><br />

<strong>Scholarship</strong> Program, which promotes the advancement of women through higher<br />

education in the sciences and mathematics.<br />

<strong>Clare</strong> <strong>Boothe</strong> <strong>Luce</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong>s are awarded competitively and are based on a full review of<br />

the applicant’s academic record, standardized test scores, career and education goals, and<br />

the completed scholarship <strong>application</strong>.<br />

Each <strong>Clare</strong> <strong>Boothe</strong> <strong>Luce</strong> <strong>Scholarship</strong> provides full financial support to the recipient,<br />

covering tuition and on-campus room and board expenses.<br />

Both high school seniors and transfer students are eligible to apply for <strong>Clare</strong> <strong>Boothe</strong> <strong>Luce</strong><br />

<strong>Scholarship</strong>s. The following criteria are taken into consideration in selecting women for<br />

this program:<br />

• a record of strong academic performance<br />

• admission for full-time study in one of the following degree programs at<br />

<strong>Marymount</strong> <strong>University</strong>: .Biology, Information Technology (Computer Science<br />

track), or Mathematics<br />

• intent to pursue a career in teaching or research in mathematics or the sciences<br />

• U.S. citizenship<br />

Applications received by February 1 will be given priority consideration.<br />

track), or Mathematics with the intent to pursue careers in teaching or research.<br />

In essay form on a separate sheet of paper, please explain your interest in the academic field you have chosen and describe your long-term career<br />

goals. Attach your essay to this <strong>application</strong>.<br />
