About us
At Raffles, we take our responsibility for the education, care and welfare of each child very
seriously as we help establish the cornerstones that support the growth of lifelong learners
and ultimately, future strong, positive and productive contributors to the communities in
which they live in.
Established in 2007, Raffles International School now stands with 2 campuses and
9 nurseries. With students and staff from all over the world comprising of over 70
different nationalities, we have a truly international mix. All our academic staff is vastly
experienced, highly qualified and extensively trained.
Raffles is a regular member of the Council of International Schools (CIS) and a
Cambridge International Examination Board Center (CIE). The West Campus is an IB
World School authorised for the Diploma Programme and a candidate school for the
Primary Years Programme. Raffles International School provides students with alternate
pathways to meet their academic goals. The rigour of the IB Diploma Programme or
Cambridge International Curriculum both challenge students to meet the internationally
recognised standards in academics. Students leave Raffles with a broadened world view
and the mental agility to pursue their dreams in an ever-changing global landscape.

Creating our dreams
Kindergarten (KG 1 & KG 2)
Children from the age of four to five years old may attend Kindergarten. The premises
consist of spacious, bright classrooms and include separate rooms for music and
movement, languages, indoor and large outdoor play areas.
The early years of a child’s life are the most formative. During this period, children absorb
innumerable impressions from their surroundings as their inner development takes place.
Very young children are happiest when their living environment is familiar and constant.
They thrive on routine, external order, encouragement and respect for their individuality.
The Raffles Kindergarten is an early learning centre with a child-centered programme in
which individual needs, abilities and interests of the child are met. Our curriculum does
not concentrate solely on the academic achievements, but on the physical, emotional and
social development needs of children at the pre-school age level.
We offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) in the West Campus and the Montessori
Programme in the South Campus providing parents with a choice.
West Campus – IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)*
This international transdisciplinary programme is designed to foster development of the
whole child, not just in the classroom but also through other means of learning.

South Campus – Montessori Programme
The Montessori curriculum is an integrated thematic approach that ties the separate
disciplines together into studies of the physical universe, the world of nature, and human
experience. In this way, one lesson leads to many others.

Making our mark in
a diverse world
Junior School (Grades 1-5)
A good start in education is essential in the building of a strong and enduring foundation
for a bright and successful future. Raffles International School believes that parents play
a fundamental role in the education of children in their formative years; our curriculum
incorporates the partnership of parents through a system of reporting where information
is given to parents on the progress of their children on a regular basis.
This approach is useful for parents and effective for children. After all, children can
succeed if they are motivated, confident and encouraged and parents can actively take a
part in this partnership with Raffles.
At Raffles, the concern, care and love for each young child takes center stage at all times.
There are two Junior School curriculums offered at Raffles. One being the Cambridge
Primary (CP) at the South Campus and the other being the IB Primary Years Programme
(PYP) at the West Campus.
West Campus – IB Primary Years Programme (PYP)*
The Primary Years Programme is an inquiry-based programme which focuses on the
comprehensive development of a child, addressing social, physical emotional and cultural needs.

South Campus – Cambridge Primary (CP)
Cambridge Primary (CP) develops the English,
Mathematics and Science skills and knowledge of
young children helping them become independent
lifelong learners, creative thinkers and problem
solvers.

Reaching our goals
Middle School (Grades 6-8)
Building on the strong foundation of the Junior School progamme,
students at Middle School level begin to refine their skills, training
for future success.
The Middle School curriculum is based on best international practices
where communication skills, confidence building and understanding of
the global environment and its challenges are emphasised.
West Campus & South Campus – Cambridge Secondary 1 (CS 1)
Cambridge Secondary 1 (CS 1) provides a framework for English, Mathematics and Science.
It ensures that students harness their full potential and effectively apply knowledge, skills
and abilities in each subject as well as offering externally standardised assessments of
achievement through the Cambridge Checkpoint diagnostic tests in Grade 8.
West Campus - High School (Grades 9-10)
Grades 9-10 – International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
Subject curricula in Grades 9 and 10 lead to Cambridge IGCSE examinations at the end of
Grade 10.
The International General Certificate of Secondary Education is the world’s most popular
international qualification for 14 to 16-year old students. It develops successful students,
giving them excellent preparation for their next steps in education and equips them with
skills for immediate employment. Cambridge IGCSE is recognised by universities and
employers worldwide.
The Cambridge IGCSE is an internationally based curriculum, allowing teaching to be
placed in a localised context, making it relevant in different regions. It is also suitable for
students whose first language may not be English and this is acknowledged throughout the
examination process.

Knowledge is the key
to our future
West Campus - High School (Grades 11 and 12)
In preparation for higher or tertiary education, Raffles International School West Campus
students who have successfully completed two years of IGCSE study or equivalent will continue
with the world- class International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). This ensures that
our students develop as internationally minded people who, recognising their common humanity
and shared guardianship of the planet help to create a better and more peaceful world.
As of April 2010, Raffles International School West Campus has been authorised as an IB World
School for its Diploma Programme. The IBDP at Raffles West is taught by extremely qualified and
experienced academic staff many of who are IBDP examiners and moderators and have been
involved with the programme for many years. With this experience, students can be confident
that they will be given every opportunity to succeed.
The IBDP is a two-year course that is recognised internationally as a qualification for university
entrance. It also allows students to fulfill the requirements of their national education system.
Students share an educational experience that emphaises critical thinking as well as intercultural
understanding and respect for others in the global community.
The IBDP offers a broad and balanced curriculum in which students are encouraged to apply
what they learn in the classroom to real world issues and problems. Wherever possible, subjects
are taught from an international perspective.
Students study six courses selected from six subject
groups, including both the sciences and humanities.
They also study Theory of Knowledge, undertake an
individual research project known as the Extended
Essay and participate in a variety of CAS (Creativity,
Action and Service) activities.
Graduates from Raffles International School will be
prepared to take full advantage of whatever higher
education or university education has to offer.

Striving for excellence
Co-curricular Activities
Well-rounded students are usually more prepared for challenges in life. Raffles
International School is committed to ensure that our students excel in the academic
curriculum, and also in the co-curricular programmes.
Activities at all levels (Junior, Middle and High School) capitalise on teacher/sponsor
interests and skills in sports (tennis, swimming, basketball, football etc), the arts (music,
drama and painting), and technology.
Languages
With over 70 nationalities represented, Raffles is well aware of the need to encourage and
nurture students’ ability to become global communicators. Languages offered include:
Arabic, which is mandatory for all students in the UAE, French, Mandarin and Spanish in
Grades 11 and 12.
Arabic is offered in two forms: Arabic ‘A’ for native speakers and Arabic ‘B’ for non-native
speakers. Students are grouped according to their ability in the relevant language in each grade.
English as a Second Language (ESL)
ESL support is also provided for students coming from the non-English speaking
background. Hence, it is important to give those students the additional English support
they need to realise their potential across all the subjects. ESL is provided until Grade 8.
Learning Support
At Raffles, we believe it is important to give each child an equal chance in life to gain the
most out of what life has to offer. The Learning Support team at Raffles develops and
improves students' core literacy and numeracy skills so they are able to better comprehend
and understand the school work. Learning Support is provided until Grade 8.

Raffles International School has
contracted an external transport company
to provide bus transport for students. The
buses serve most areas in Dubai.

After-school activities
Raffles International School is committed
to ensuring that our students excel in the
academic curriculum as well as in afterschool
activities.
We offer a wide range of activities and
we encourage participation in various
after-school activities (ASAs) to aid the
holistic development of our students by
building their self-esteem and improving
their performance in academics, sports
and other extra-curricular fields.

About
Innoventures Education
Raffles International School is managed by Innoventures Education, one of the leading
names in nursery and school education. Innoventures Education was established in 2004
with the vision of bringing world-class education to Dubai. Its first and flagship school, Dubai
International Academy, opened in 2005 and within six years, it had become one of the
premier international schools in Dubai.
In 2010, Innoventures Education partnered with Emaar Properties to take over the
management of Raffles International Schools and Nurseries in Dubai, thus increasing its
portfolio to three schools and nine nurseries.
The newest addition to the Innoventures Education portfolio is Collegiate American School,
