Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD)<br />

hazards, behavioral responses to these<br />

incidents, and crisis management within<br />

a community responding to a terrorist<br />

attack discussed. Overview of WMD<br />

radiological, biological, and chemical<br />

agents in context to a terrorist assault<br />

within the community. Includes methods<br />

of delivery and the devices that terrorists<br />

use to disseminate WMD agents as well<br />

as community response strategies and<br />

risk management plans for the protection<br />

of the community. Prerequisites: None.<br />

Basic Concepts for Weapons of Mass<br />

Destruction (WMD) Incidents<br />

Designed to give participants a basic<br />

awareness of the knowledge and skills<br />

necessary to plan and manage a Weapons<br />

of Mass Destruction (WMD) incident<br />

through the roles and responsibilities of<br />

the incident command system (ICS) ,<br />

using the eight functions of command.<br />

Use of a multidiscipline approach to ICS,<br />

integrating the local unified command<br />

system to approach and manage a WMD<br />

incident. Includes community response<br />

strategies and risk management plans for<br />

the protection of the community.<br />

Command<br />

Training for emergency responders in<br />

skills necessary to manage a<br />

WMD/terrorism incident by adapting<br />

the existing Incident Command System<br />

(ICS) to the unique challenges posed by<br />

the integration of local, state, and federal<br />

agencies and departments into a unified<br />

command structure. Prerequisites:<br />

Permission of instructor.
