HISTORICAL AND MUSEUM COMMISSION<br />

The Commission is responsible for <strong>the</strong> conservation and preservation of Pennsylvania’s<br />

historic heritage. One of <strong>the</strong> Commission’s programs is <strong>the</strong> administration of local public<br />

records through <strong>the</strong> State Archives. It is responsible for <strong>the</strong> evaluation of <strong>municipal</strong> records to<br />

determine administrative, legal or historical value, records disposition requests and <strong>the</strong><br />

development of appropriate records management and archival programs.<br />

HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION<br />

The Commission offers a program to provide local government officials with<br />

information, technical assistance, and educational opportunities regarding fair housing and<br />

lending matters, and <strong>the</strong> responsibilities of local governments to comply with fair housing laws.<br />

The program’s purpose is to achieve voluntary compliance by local governing units through<br />

educational and technical assistance seminars.<br />

INFRASTRUCTURE INVESTMENT AUTHORITY<br />

The authority administers <strong>the</strong> PENNVEST Programs. PENNVEST funds are used for<br />

loans and grants to <strong>municipal</strong>ities, <strong>municipal</strong> authorities and private firms to improve water,<br />

sewage and stormwater systems <strong>the</strong>y own.<br />

LEGISLATIVE REFERENCE BUREAU<br />

The Bureau publishes <strong>the</strong> Pennsylvania Bulletin which serves as <strong>the</strong> temporary update for<br />

<strong>the</strong> Pennsylvania Code. Each <strong>municipal</strong>ity is entitled to one complimentary subscription.<br />

LOCAL GOVERNMENT COMMISSION<br />

The Commission serves as a vehicle through which local governments, via <strong>the</strong>ir elected<br />

legislators and professional associations, may have <strong>the</strong>ir legislative recommendations evaluated<br />

and/or sponsored. The publication of <strong>the</strong> Commonwealth’s several <strong>municipal</strong> codes and <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

distribution to all local governments is <strong>the</strong> responsibility of <strong>the</strong> Commission.<br />

PENNSYLVANIA LIQUOR CONTROL BOARD<br />

The Board is responsible for distributing <strong>the</strong> major portion of license fees from hotel,<br />

restaurant, and club liquor licenses. Retail dispenser (malt and brewed beverages) fees are<br />

automatically returned to those <strong>municipal</strong>ities where <strong>the</strong> licensed premises are located.<br />
