The new generation
MEKRA Lang develops camera systems for all commercial
and passenger transport vehicles in accordance with
Commission Directive 2003/97/EC and applicable CEN
and DIN regulations.
Suitability for automotive applications is also a given
for the new generation of MEKRA camera systems and
represents only one of its many advantages. In fact,
surround vision is only truly possible with this technology,
used in conjunction with mirror systems by Mekra Lang.
Our highly coordinated and optimized system design
has been proven to eliminate blind spots all around the
vehicle. The new MEKRA camera generation demonstrates
the company’s vision and market leadership when it
comes to ground-breaking, innovative design. Specifically
developed for automotive applications, MEKRA’s lens
system is the first in its class to provide for highly realistic
and virtually distortion-free imaging. This system enables
drivers to assess clearances and hazardous situations
much more effectively. It is now also legally permissible
to use cameras as a replacement particularly for front
mirrors. Its universal mounting system contributes to the
excellent versatility of this camera and ensures customized
solutions for each type of vehicle and usage – with
optional front, side, and rear view configurations. Due to
its particularly rugged design, the camera housing easily
withstands a variety of endurance tests, such as shock,
vibration, and climate change tests. And of course it
complies with the safety requirements of Protection Class
IP 69K (i.e. it is dust and watertight when exposed to highpressure
water jets).
The new MEKRA camera generation is equipped with a
high-performance heating system which ensures yearround
reliable operation.
With this global innovation MEKRA has once again taken
an important step towards improving traffic safety –
a step which we are all proud of.

Commission Directive 2003/97/EC - the MEKRA solution
The hazard zone (marked in red) is hardly
visible, particularly in front and to the sides of
the vehicle.
The mirror systems which will be legally required as of
2007, significantly enlarge the field of vision and completely
cover the “blind spot” area (red dotted line).
Using the cameras as a replacement for the front view
mirror in particular is now legally permissible.
