Albuquerque Fiesta Gala Opening Social
Relax and socialize on Monday, May 2, 6:00 – 8:00 pm with colleagues
old and new, dialogue with poster presenters, and learn about latest
resources from exhibitors. A festive evening filled with the flavor of
the enchanting Southwest through food and music.
NEW! Poster Gallery & Poster Promenade
View over 30 posters on display during the conference and interact
with authors at the Gala Opening Social on Monday, May 2, 6:00 –
8:00 pm. On Tuesday morning, enjoy your continental breakfast and
participate in our Poster Promenade, consisting of guided poster tours
on topics of Chronic Disease & Diabetes, Health Communications,
and Policy/Systems/ Environment.
NACDD Annual Business Meeting & Awards
Luncheon
NACDD will hold its Annual Awards Luncheon on Monday, May 2,
1:00-2:00 pm. NACDD members and special guests are invited to hear
about NACDD’s recent accomplishments and celebrate the achievements
of outstanding leaders in chronic disease prevention and control.
SOPHE Town Hall Meeting
Grab your box lunch on Monday, May 2, 1:15-2:00 pm and attend
the SOPHE Town Hall Meeting. Get the scoop on SOPHE’s new
strategic plan and recent activities. Let us know what’s on your mind
and how we can serve you better. All invited!
Albuquerque Fiesta II
Join your colleagues, Tuesday, May 3, 6:00-10:00 pm, for a flavorful
southwest buffet at Seasons of Albuquerque, a short stroll from the
hotel. After dinner, join the “Afterglow “on the roof top bar overlooking
beautiful Old Town Albuquerque. A limited number of tickets are
available for purchase at the registration desk ($40). Don’t be left out
of this memorable fiesta!
SOPHE Snapshot/Meeting Mentor Program
First-time meeting attendees are invited to the SOPHE Snapshot,
Monday, May 2, 7:00-8:00 am. Enjoy continental breakfast and learn
about SOPHE’s programs and how you can be involved. This session
will also kick off the Meeting Mentoring Program, joining mentors
and protégés during the conference.
Continuing Education
An application has been submitted to award Certified Health
Specialists (CHES) and Master Certified Health Education
Specialists (MCHES) up to 28.0 total Category I Continuing
Education Contact Hours (CECH). Maximum Advanced-level
contact hours available are 24.25. SOPHE, including its chapters,
is a designated multiple event provider of CECHs by the National
Commission for Health Education Credentialing. In addition, applications
have been submitted by NACDD for CME, CNE and CEU
credits for the skill-building workshops; the number of credits will be
determined upon approval. Administration fees for continuing education
are included in the conference registration fees
Networking Roundtables/Communities
of Practice
Ever wonder how they did that? On Tuesday, May 3, 12:00 – 1:00
pm, grab your box lunch and participate in roundtable dialogues
with others interested in the same topic. Or, join one of SOPHE
Communities of Practice (CoP) roundtables on the following topics:
Children/Adolescent Health; Medical Care/Patient Education;
Health Communications/Social Marketing; Health Disparities;
Healthy Aging; Emergency Preparedness; Environmental Health;
Worksite Health; Anthropology; and International/ Health. SOPHE
Student/New Professionals and University Faculty CoPs will meet on
Tuesday, May 3, 7:15-8:15 am, with continental breakfast.
Exhibits & Publications Mart
Peruse information, publications, tools, and the latest technological
innovations from an array of organizations and companies, starting on
Monday, May 2, 7:00 am. Enjoy continental breakfast with the exhibitors
or use your break time to get one-on-one tips and advice. Exhibits
will be featured through Wednesday, May 4, 11:00 am.
SOPHE Annual Silent Auction
Looking for the perfect Mother’s Day or birthday gift? Bid on a
variety of crafts, edibles, and treasures from across the country. The
silent auction benefits the Campaign for the 21st Century: Building
SOPHE’s Future to provide student scholarships and more. Bidding
will open on May 2, 7:30 am and conclude May 4, 9:00 am. All items
MUST be picked up by 3:00 pm; no items will be shipped.
“Ask Me about My Chapter” Challenge
Look for SOPHE chapter representatives wearing the “Ask Me about
My Chapter” stickers. Learn about the state/regional chapter in your
area and have your Chapter Challenge card signed to be entered into a
drawing for fabulous prizes. View the chapter poster at the Opening
Social or visit the SOPHE Chapter exhibit to learn how you can start
a chapter in your area.
