techniques to investigate economic and political economic problems<br />

• Ability to support or conduct economic studies, which analyze (socio-)economic<br />

systems and processes using theory, empirics, and simulation<br />

• Developing scientic interest, have had rst scientic project experience and scientic<br />

Syllabus: The project task usually should be to model a macroeconomic dynamics of<br />

signicant relevance for the European economy (e.g., European energy markets, global<br />

nancial architecture, etc.). The project has to consist of a part showing the ability to<br />

understand advanced economic theory, and of a part showing the expertise to transform<br />

problems of political economy into useful simulation models.<br />

Expected Prerequisites:<br />

The contents of the modules BAE/INE - Information Economics and Social Simulation,<br />

BIN/MOS - Modeling and Simulation and FMF/QOM - Quantative Operations<br />

Managementas well as the contents of the bachelor module WIW/GOE - Grundlagen<br />

der Ökonomie.<br />

Teaching and Learning Methods and Adequate Assessment of Performance: The module<br />

is organized along projects carried out in small groups to conduct a simulation study<br />

based on economic theory, empirics, and simulation results, a (semi-public) presentation<br />

of the project, and a written project report.<br />
