Upgrading ePolicy Orchestrator software
Upgrade Compatibility Utility overview
d
Choose which Product Compatibility List file to use:
• Select Automatic retrieval of Product Compatibility List — The Product Compatibility Check
automatically retrieves the most current list from a trusted McAfee source over the Internet.
If the Internet source is unavailable, or if the list can't be verified, it uses the list downloaded
with the latest version of the ePolicy Orchestrator software.
• Deselect Automatic retrieval of Product Compatibility List — The Product Compatibility Check uses the
manually downloaded Product Compatibility List.
Click ProductCompatibilityList.xml to manually download the file.
e
Click Migrate or Product Compatibility Check and one of these appears in the ePO Product Compatibility
Check dialog box:
• No incompatible products were found — You can continue to step 3.
The compression process could take multiple minutes on an Enterprise ePolicy Orchestrator
server.
• A list of incompatible products — This is a list of blocked and disabled extensions. Using this list
you must replace the blocked extension with versions that are compatible with this version of
the software and retry the Product Compatibility check.
If an extension is disabled it does not block the upgrade, but the extension isn't initialized
after the ePolicy Orchestrator upgrade until a known replacement extension is installed.
• Failed to load the list of installed products for your ePO installation — This indicates the Product
Compatibility List file is not available, or the information you typed to access the source
McAfee ePO server was incorrect. Return to step 2c and try again.
If you interrupt the migration file creation process, start the process over again to create a new
file.
Status displays the file creation status and Migration Completed appears when the process is
complete.
3 On the upgrade server:
a
Download the ePolicy Orchestrator 5.0 software from the McAfee website.
The software is in the downloaded ePolicy Orchestrator installation file.
You can also copy the ePolicy Orchestrator 5.0 software from the existing version 4.X McAfee
ePO server where you downloaded it.
b
Extract the files to a temporary location, find the folder UpgradeCompatibility, and
double‐click UpgradeCompatibility.exe.
The ePolicy Orchestrator Upgrade Compatibility Utility appears.
c
Copy the ePolicy Orchestrator data file you created to the upgrade server.
If you have McAfee ® VirusScan ® Enterprise installed on the upgrade server, disable the On‐Access
Scan before you migrate your version 4.X files to your version 5.0 server.
d
Under Server Type, click Target.
e Click Input File and browse to where you copied the source configuration file from the version 4.X
source server. By default the file is stored as C:\Migrate.zip.
f Click Migrate to extract and convert the version 4.X ePolicy Orchestrator configuration files to 5.0
or later configuration files.
