OTS manages the myIIT web portal (http://my.iit.edu), which provides personalized access to email, online<br />
course registration, Blackboard, OTS Support, student financial information, student life, weblinks, tools<br />
and other content. Supplemental class materials are available through Blackboard, IIT’s course<br />
management system, where instructors post lectures, notes and other course information. IIT Online<br />
courses and video lectures are also accessed through Blackboard.<br />
The OTS Support Desk is the central point <strong>of</strong> contact for technology support at IIT. Support Desk staff<br />
provide technical troubleshooting and administrative support for all IIT students, faculty and staff. Services<br />
include troubleshooting, account management, and configuration assistance. OTS Support is available<br />
through myIIT including a knowledge database with how-to information for common technical issues and<br />
questions. A request for technical support may be submitted by opening a ticket through the OTS Support<br />
feature in myIIT, sending a request via email (supportdesk@iit.edu) or by calling the Support Desk at<br />
312.567.3375 (on-campus 7.DESK).<br />
IIT provides traffic shaped Internet access through its wired and wireless networks. Some campus<br />
residence buildings have wired Internet access and wireless Internet access is available campus-wide.<br />
Visit the OTS website to view IIT’s current wifi zones. Instructions for connecting to the Internet through the<br />
IIT network, including how to configure and register personal computers and mobile devices, are also<br />
available on the OTS website.<br />

Use <strong>of</strong> Academic Buildings after Regular Hours<br />
Any student desiring to use university facilities after normal closing time must have in his or her<br />
possession both a currently validated student identification card and an after-hours permit. The afterhours<br />
permit may be obtained through the student’s academic department. For the sake <strong>of</strong> safety and<br />
security, each student should be accompanied by another student with similar credentials or by a member<br />
<strong>of</strong> the faculty. Any student who uses university academic facilities after normal closing times must notify<br />
the Public Safety Department by calling 312.808.6300.<br />
Unauthorized Keys or Keycards<br />
Use or possession <strong>of</strong> unauthorized keys or keycards to IIT locks is prohibited.<br />

The Office <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate Academic Affairs (UGAA) provides a variety <strong>of</strong> academic support services for<br />
an undergraduate student from the time <strong>of</strong> admission to graduation. These services include academic<br />
advising, evaluation <strong>of</strong> transfer credits from both United States and international schools; academic<br />
program audits; student petitions; change <strong>of</strong> major, including declaration <strong>of</strong> dual degree or double major;<br />
monitoring <strong>of</strong> academic progress; certification <strong>of</strong> student's eligibility for degree conferral; granting an<br />
<strong>of</strong>ficial leave <strong>of</strong> absence; and <strong>of</strong>ficial withdrawal from the university. In addition, this <strong>of</strong>fice reinstates former<br />
undergraduate students to the university and maintains the <strong>of</strong>ficial academic files for all undergraduate<br />
students. DegreeWorks, the online degree audit system is monitored and maintained by UGAA. Office<br />
hours are 8:30 – 5:00, Monday – Friday.<br />
VanderCook College <strong>of</strong> Music<br />

Full-time IIT students in good standing may take courses <strong>of</strong>fered at VanderCook College <strong>of</strong> Music. The<br />
following VanderCook courses, HIST 203, HIST 204, HUM 301, and FT 301 may be used as humanities<br />
electives in all IIT degree programs. A maximum <strong>of</strong> three semester hours <strong>of</strong> performance courses may be<br />
used as free electives.<br />
Please contact the Office <strong>of</strong> Undergraduate Academic Affairs for further information. Admission to<br />
VanderCook courses is on a space-available basis and students may be asked to audition or to satisfy<br />
other requirements prior to acceptance into a VanderCook course. Approval <strong>of</strong> the IIT Bursar's <strong>of</strong>fice also<br />
is required since there is a fee for taking a course at VanderCook.
