► Guidance for floating offshore wind turbines<br />
� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> issued guidelines for the classification and<br />
certification of floating offshore wind turbines. The guidelines<br />
specify the environmental conditions in which such turbines<br />
may be used and include the principles of structural design.<br />
The guidance brings together <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong>’ experience<br />
with offshore floating units and moorings, combined with<br />
internationally recognized standards for wind turbines.<br />

► Verification of Conformity in Iraq<br />
� After an international call for tenders, <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> was<br />
chosen by the Republic of Iraq to provide pre-export<br />
Verification of Conformity of imported goods, certified to both<br />
Iraqi requirements and international standards. The benefits<br />
of the scheme include consumer and environment<br />

� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> has been appointed by the Zambia <strong>Bureau</strong> of<br />
Standards to implement the pre-export Verification of<br />
Conformity (VOC) program for goods imported to<br />
Zambia. Protection of consumers and the environment,<br />
conformity assurance and faster goods release at the<br />
Zambian customs office, are the key benefits of the VOC<br />

Pressure Equipment Development Report. The report is<br />
issued by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers<br />

► Green Rating Alliance formed<br />

real estate companies to launch the Green Rating Alliance.<br />
This non-profit association is dedicated to assessing and<br />
improving the environmental performance of existing<br />
buildings. It aims to bring the Green Rating tool, which<br />
measures environmental performance, to the wider property<br />
industry and to exchange best practice.<br />

► Guidelines for risk-based qualification of new technology<br />
� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> issued guidelines for the risk-based<br />
qualification of new technology. Qualification is a process by<br />
which a new technology or an existing technology used in a<br />
new context is approved. The qualification process aims to<br />
prove that a technology is fit for purpose. It is about making<br />
sure that new ideas are safe for people and the environment.<br />
The Group also began using its methodology to develop joint<br />
guidelines, for liquefied natural gas carriers and offshore<br />
floating production units, with the Russian Maritime Register<br />
of Shipping.<br />

► Expanding the Knowledge Center Portal<br />
� The Consumer Products Services Division of <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong><br />
made two new additions to its online Knowledge Center. The<br />
Global Compliance Monitor is a weekly subscription-based<br />
service designed to keep companies up-to-date on<br />
international regulatory compliance issues. And White<br />
Papers are a catalog of research based documents providing<br />
focused information on a wide variety of industry topics,<br />
including new and emerging compliance issues, in a clear<br />

Certification Institution in a research study published in Imp-<br />
Exp Executive magazine. The China Foreign Trade Service<br />
study carried out in 2010 covered five trade areas: ecommerce,<br />
exhibitions, certification, finance, and logistics.<br />
Conducted in collaboration with Huaxia D&B China, the<br />
leading commercial information consulting firm, the research<br />
is a reference for companies carrying out import and export<br />
activities.<br />

► Improving urban environments in Barcelona<br />

inspections in Barcelona, Spain. The work covers areas like<br />

► Launch of French Origin Guaranteed label<br />
� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> Certification and Pro France, a state linked<br />
non-profit organization promoting products made in France,<br />
launched a new label: Origine France Garantie, meaning<br />
French Origin Guaranteed. <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> developed the<br />
label and is the certification body authorized to deliver it. The<br />
label not only helps producers to promote their products’<br />
"Frenchness", and French consumers to buy local, it also<br />
helps consumers outside France, to purchase uniquely<br />
French goods.<br />

► Nuclear industry website launched<br />

website for the Nuclear Quality Standard Association<br />
(NQSA) at www.nqsa.org NQSA is a non-profit industry<br />

with the NSQ100 standard, to meet growing safety and<br />

management developed by the International Standard<br />

requirements for providers of learning services in non-formal<br />
education and training. It helps clients establish a more<br />
systematic approach to continuous improvement and<br />

► Slashing reporting times<br />
� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> slashed the reporting time for a Condition<br />
Assessment Programme (CAP) report from three months to<br />
one month, and at the same time improved the accessibility<br />
and usability of the report. The dramatic shortening of time<br />
for the CAP report reduces costs for tanker owners and<br />
makes the <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> CAP a useful tool for risk<br />
assessment of vessels and offshore units.<br />

Technoclinic Pty Ltd, an Indian company specialized in<br />
conformity assessment services for public and industrial<br />
infrastructure. The Group is already a key player in systems<br />
certification, industry inspection and commodities testing in<br />
India. This first acquisition in India rounds out the current<br />
portfolio of services and positions <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> in the<br />
booming infrastructure market.<br />

► Accreditation for wind turbine certifications<br />

French accreditation body Cofrac to deliver certification of<br />
wind turbines worldwide. <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> Certification now<br />
has official approval to handle all aspects of certification<br />
work in accordance with the IEC 61400-22 standard for wind<br />
turbines. This new accreditation will provide many<br />

Transport Association (IATA) for its Transporting Dangerous<br />

► Implementation of Tanzanian Authorities Pre-export<br />
Verification of Conformity (PVoC) programme<br />
� <strong>Bureau</strong> <strong>Veritas</strong> has been appointed by the Tanzania <strong>Bureau</strong><br />
of Standards to provide Pre-export Verification of Conformity<br />
(PVoC) services. Companies exporting these kinds of goods<br />
to Tanzania have to get the required Certificate of<br />
Conformity after having the conformity of goods checked<br />
prior shipment.<br />
