UPDATE DATA FOR
Memorandum of Understanding Between Elsevier and IFToMM
Pertaining to Mechanism and Machine Theory
This Memorandum of Understanding states the principles governing the affiliation of
Mechanism and Machine Theory (‘the Journal’), published and owned by Elsevier Ltd
(‘The Publisher’) with the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and
Machine Science (‘IFToMM’). It has been agreed with effect from 1 January 2005.
Set out below are updates of the terms and conditions under which the affiliation will
operate with effect from 1 January 2013:
§5 The Publisher will appoint from its staff a publishing editor (the ‘Publishing Editor’).
The Publishing Editor will be the principal point of contact at the Publisher for IFToMM and
the Editor-in-Chief. The current Publishing Editor for the Journal is:

IFToMM will be kept abreast of any change of incumbent for this position. Likewise, IFToMM
will appoint from its staff a named contact officer (the ‘IFToMM Contact Officer’) who will be
the principal point of contact for the Publisher at IFToMM. The IFToMM contact officer is the
Chair of IFToMM Permanent Commission for Communications, Publications and Archiving.

The Publisher will be kept abreast of any change of incumbent for this position.
§10 The Publisher will be responsible for all handling and fulfilling of subscription orders
to the Journal, including subscriptions of individuals affiliated with IFToMM's Member
Organizations, henceforth referred to as 'Individual Members', and all other subscribers, and
will retain ownership of the subscriber list. For the year 2013 the print subscription rates to
the Journal for Individual Members will be USD149/EUR131/JPY17,315. The Journal
publishes twelve (12) volumes of one (1) issue annually. This may change in the future, at
the discretion of the Publisher. The subscription rates of the Journal shall be determined by
the Publisher in its sole discretion. The Publisher shall review annually its subscription rates
for Individual Members and inform IFToMM appropriately.
§11 Individual Members will in general make subscription payments directly to the
Publisher, and will be required to provide details of their respective IFToMM Member
Organization status to prove that they are eligible to subscribe at the Individual Member
rate, along with their subscription payment. The only exception to this arrangement is
IFToMM Member Organization Japan, which handles its own members and which will be
invoiced directly by the Publisher for such copies annually. For 2013 the subscription rate
for IFToMM Japan will be JPY17,315 per member. The Publisher will otherwise send issues
of the Journal and notices of subscription renewal directly to the Individual Members. The
subscription year shall run from January to December. Any Individual Member wishing to
buy back issues of the Journal will be entitled to do so at the standard back issue rate
provided by the Regional Sales Offices of the Publisher. On request, in the January
following the end of a subscription year, the Publisher will provide IFToMM with figures for
the number of Individual Members who took up the reduced subscription rate.
