• Food stud yon technology <strong>in</strong>troduction and diet-related diseases (cardiovascular<br />

diseases) and food analysis. This is be<strong>in</strong>g done <strong>in</strong> cooperation with food <strong>in</strong>dustries.<br />

• Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g: used to conduct tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for government <strong>of</strong>ficials but <strong>the</strong>n decision taken to<br />

teach communities, a manual was developed. However, a big gap <strong>in</strong> tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g for<br />

government <strong>of</strong>ficials was left.<br />

Lessons learnt Current EHNRI is <strong>the</strong> merger <strong>of</strong> three <strong>in</strong>stitutions but <strong>the</strong> epidemiology <strong>of</strong> nutrition <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>Ethiopia</strong> would require a larger mandate, similar to that <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> old ENI. The NNS could<br />

open a dialogue on re-launch<strong>in</strong>g its mandate.<br />
