2.4 / COLLABORATION WITH IEA INITIATIVES<br />
The <strong>OES</strong> ExCo continued to co-ordinate its activities with relevant IEA meetings and initiatives. Where<br />
possible the ExCo is represented at these meeting by members of the Cabinet or delegates. Any meeting<br />
attended by the Cabinet in an official capacity, using Agreement Common Funds, is subject of a meeting<br />
report to the ExCo by the representative member.<br />
<strong>Energy</strong> Technology Perspectives <strong>2012</strong><br />
The ETP <strong>2012</strong> is the International <strong>Energy</strong> Agency’s publication on new developments in energy technology.<br />
It demonstrates how technologies can make a decisive difference in achieving the objective of limiting the<br />
global temperature rise to 2°C and enhancing energy security. ETP<strong>2012</strong> presents scenarios and strategies<br />
to 2050, with the aim of guiding decision makers on energy trends and what needs to be done to build a<br />
clean, secure and competitive energy future.<br />
This year the ExCo did collaborate with the IEA’s ETP modeling team. The preparation of the <strong>OES</strong> document<br />
in <strong>2012</strong> “International Vision for <strong>Ocean</strong> <strong>Energy</strong>” in close collaboration with the IEA modeling team establish<br />
cost and deployment trends which served as inputs to the IEA modeling team, thus enabling the IEA to<br />
make credible inclusion of ocean energy trend data, for the first time.<br />

<strong>Energy</strong> Technology Network: <strong>Energy</strong> Technology Initiatives <strong>2012</strong><br />
The IEA has been during <strong>2012</strong> updating results IAs wants to showcase in a Spotlight section of the <strong>Energy</strong><br />
Technology Initiatives <strong>2012</strong> report. The <strong>OES</strong> provided inputs on the most relevant <strong>OES</strong> achievements in<br />
<strong>2012</strong>: new Annex V initiated during the year and the <strong>OES</strong> International Vision.<br />
Joint IRENA/IEA-RETD workshop “Levelised Costs of Renewable <strong>Energy</strong>: What if costs<br />
continue to drop?”<br />
26 October <strong>2012</strong>, Bonn, GERMANY<br />
The intention of this IRENA and IEA-RETD workshop was to bring together industry representatives,<br />
scientists and policy-makers to discuss the recent developments in RET costs and the future implications of<br />
these developments. The costs of many Renewable <strong>Energy</strong> Technologies (RET) have dropped significantly in<br />
recent years due to a virtuous circle of high learning rates and increased RET deployment. At the same time,<br />
the impact of integrating larger shares of renewables into electricity systems is becoming more apparent.<br />
Institutions, including IRENA and IEA-RETD, are studying the issues and the implications surrounding these<br />
developments.<br />
The German delegate attended this workshop.<br />
