Dear Parents/ Carers
Meet the Teacher
A reminder that there is an opportunity to meet the class teachers. We trialled them last year and following great
feedback from parents will run them again. Parents commented that these were a good opportunity to get to
know expectations and routines for the class and find out what the children would be learning. They have made
the move between classes and to a new year group smoother and are one of the ways that we support transition
between classes at school.
Class2 – 9am Tuesday 13 th September
Class 3 – 9am – Wednesday 14 th September
Class 4 – 3pm – Friday 16 th September
Teams Day tomorrow!
Please, as everyday, could children have an outdoor coat in school
and if they have them can they bring in their wellies or other outdoor
shoes so they can change into them during the workshops.
Deep Down Cowboys – Theatre Alibi – ‘A cracking tale of
riding into the sunset and finding freedom!’
Next Wednesday we shall be visited by Theatre Alibi for a
performance of Deep Down Cowboys which Holly Gillett’s mum has
kindly arranged. It has been quite some time since we had a live theatre performance in school and this Exeter
based group come highly recommended. This will take place in the afternoon. We request a contribution of £2
per child to cover the cost. Please complete and return the permission and contribution slip below. Google
Theatre Alibi to find out more.
Uniform
It’s great to see all the children looking so smart! Could I remind parents that tattoos should be removed before
children come to school and hair that is collar length for both boys and girls should be tied back, it gets in the
way for PE and other practical activities.
Grow £1
I hope that the children enjoyed their challenge to grow £1 over the holidays. Could all money raised please be
returned as soon as possible, clearly labelled with a description of the activity undertaken, photos can be
included. There are prizes for each class - one for the most money raised and one for the most ingenious idea.
School Security
Could we please remind parents that in the interest of security and safety, parents must
not let any visitors, tradesmen or other parents into school. As a school we need to
monitor the nature of all entrants to the premises and we need to know exactly who is
on site at any time of the day.
BCG Vaccination
In line with national policy, BCG vaccination for TB has not routinely been given to children since 2005. NHS
Devon are now screening children in the Reception Year who are at risk of developing TB. This includes any
children aged 5 – 18 who has not been vaccinated against TB infection and;
• Have a parent or grandparent born in a country with a high incidence of TB or
• Were born or lived for more than 3 months in any country with a high incidence of TB
Please contact The Immunisation Team on 01392/208469/208470 to arrange screening or vaccination.
Rucksacks
We are unfortunately very short of cloakroom space and request, as in the past, that children only bring one of
the small bookbags to school and their coat. Could PE kits also be in a drawstring type bag please as they take
up much less space than rucksacks.
Walking Bus
Time to make a change to the school routine, new year and new start? Join the walking bus for a fun and fit way
to start the day. Collect a form from the office or see Becky Penrose our walking bus co-ordinator.
Yours sincerely
