Dear Parents and Carers, Thursday 8 th July 2010
The rain held off on Friday night for the School Summer Fete! Its was great to see so many people there
enjoying themselves and it reminded me how lucky we are here at Ide to have such great support from our
FIS and our parents, as well as the wider community who came along. It was a great evening with a lovely
atmosphere. Many thanks to all those that came along, who ran a stall and helped with the event, your
hard work is really appreciated. The evening raised a massive £1100.
Sainsbury’s Vouchers
We collected a massive 38,000 vouchers which is great and we have just placed an order for PE equipment such
as balls, netball posts, a variety of small games equipment for lunchtimes, including basketball hoops, some
outdoor play equipment for Class 1, some new ride on scooters, some cooking equipment and lots lots more!
Thanks to everyone who collected and sent in vouchers.
Good Green Lunchbox
One of our school improvement focuses next year will be healthy eating and we
shall be starting our year in September with a themed week on the very first
week back focusing on healthy eating. This term we shall be helping with the
Launch of a book. One of our new parents who will be joining us in September
works with the Author ‘Dino Rock’. She will be running a workshop the week after
next with Class 3 on healthier and reduced packaging packed lunches. The book
will be on sale afterwards at £5.99 and I shall send home a flyer next week. The
book contains some useful ideas to be greener, reducing packaging and healthier
choices. The mealtime staff have noticed an increase in chocolates etc in lunch
boxes - our school policy is ‘Sweets and treats are only permitted as
snacks as part of a balanced lunchbox’
Class Structure
Please find below the class structure for September and anticipated structure for January. All children who
are changing classes in September will spend some time with their new teacher on the afternoon of Monday
19 th July.
Play Area
The fence between the two play areas is our boundary; it is designed to keep the children in and safe and
unwanted visitors out! Please would parents ensure that children do not climb over or under it as it is making our
site insecure which compromises your children’s safety.
Walking Bus
As we reach the end of term, we are arranging a Walking Bus Breakfast at the Twisted Oak on Friday 16th July,
from 8.15am - 8.35am before we head off to school. All those who have used the Walking Bus this year or
would like to join from September are warmly invited to come along for Bacon Butties and Juice. Also,
Becky Penrose is taking over from Trevor Gardner as the Walking Bus Co-ordinator from September and is keen
to hear from anyone that is able to help as an Escort with the Walking Bus one morning per week, allowing you
to get away early on the remaining days. The Walking Bus continues to be beneficial to the school and this
could be increased if more people joined the bus and left their vehicles outside the village each morning. Would
Year 6 please return their Hi Viz jackets at the end of term to the school office.
Library Book Amnesty
It’s that time of year where we would like to take stock of our library and identify any new purchases
needed. We would be grateful if all library books could now be returned, have a good look under beds, in
book bags etc.
Class 3 Assembly – don’t forget this is tomorrow.
Music Lessons – Suzannah is hoping to start a beginners group for the fife from September – complete slip if
interested. Anyone who can play any instrument is welcome to join the orchestra whether they have lessons in
school or not – if this is the case there will be a small charge of £3 per week. All those having lessons can join
for free. The orchestra takes place from 12:15pm on a Friday lunchtime.
Message from Marie Lloyd – White male rabbit, hutch and run - free to someone at Ide Primary. Ask in office
for more details.
