Anycast
Sending a packet to a generic address to get a specific service from the “nearest”
instance. This puts the burden of determining which instance to deliver it to on the
routing system.
Requires defining a router entry for each anycast address.
Subnet Anycast Address:
Subnet prefix
(n bits)
0
(128-n bits)
Thus the host ID of zero is treated as the subnet.
Maguire Anycast 10: 28 of 54
