DMI 2.0 has three groups:<br />

• ComponentID group - required <strong>for</strong> all DMI components, includes in<strong>for</strong>mation such as the six<br />

named attributes: "Manufacturer", "Product", “Version”, "Serial Number", "Installation", and<br />

"Verify" [asking <strong>for</strong> this last group causes the device to check itself].<br />

• Event Groups<br />

– includes a template group used to describe the <strong>for</strong>mat of event data <strong>for</strong> standard events<br />

– Event State group is defined to hold the current state of state-based events<br />

– Events can be of different severity levels: Monitor, In<strong>for</strong>mation, OK, Non-Critical, Critical,<br />

and Non-Recoverable.<br />

• DMI Service Provider Groups - provides the means <strong>for</strong> those interested in specific events to<br />

subscript to just the events that they want; subscribers can say how they want to be notified<br />

(DCE RPC, TI RPC, ONC RPC), what transport protocol should be used (TCP/IP, IPX, …),<br />

when the no longer want to be notified (Subscription Expiration DateStamp), …<br />
