term as an Office Teaching Assistant.
‣ Students who would like to TA a lighting class must attend a mandatory lighting equipment
training, regardless of their experience level.
‣ The extension of office TA assignments and/or eligibility to TA classes is contingent on a
productive working relationship with ICP faculty, staff, and students.
‣ In order to be assigned to a class a TA must have working knowledge of the course material,
and eligibility to TA a class is at the complete discretion of ICP faculty and staff.
(3) TAs with previous ICP classroom experience
(4) All other interested parties
‣ Please always be courteous and enthusiastic in helping students. Customer service is key
for dismissal. Staff, students and other TAs depend on your punctuality and reliability.
‣ TAs must notify their supervisors at least one week in advance if they wish to cancel their
assignment.
for reassignment.
BENEFITS
‣ Teaching assistants are credited for each hour worked. Work performed upon request
outside of class will also be credited given prior approval. Earned credit will be given out via
credit hours cards in 20‐hour units. Meaning, you will not have any credit, hence you will not
have access to the labs, until you have worked a minimum of 20 hours. (TAs are not able to
purchase additional time in the labs, beyond time they have earned).
‣ Earned credit hours may be used in the DIGITAL LABS and DARKROOMS or submitted to the
Education Office for Tuition Discounts (the maximum discount is 50% off of TUITION only,
all students must pay full materials and registration fees):
Ten‐week class ‐ 40 TA credit hours needed – 50% tuition reduction
Five‐week ‐ 20 TA credit hours needed – 50% tuition reduction
Two‐weekend workshop ‐ 40 TA credit hours needed – 50% tuition reduction
One‐weekend workshop ‐ 20 TA credit hours needed – 50% tuition reduction
1 hour lab time ‐ 1 TA credit hour needed (all students must pay for print fees)
Accrued hours are valid for tuition credit and lab usage for two years after they were earned.
The expiration date on your Credit Hours Card is the final date in which the card can be used for
tuition discounts and lab usage. TA credit hours cards cannot be extended and/or replaced.
‣ The TA policy may be subject to change in the future, in which case, notices will be posted.
