The Scholarship was established under the name of Bill Andreeff, a member who gave "above and beyond the call of duty". The late Brother
Andreeff had served the Local Union with great distinction in the offices of Shop Steward, President, Vice-President, Recording Secretary,
Treasurer, Executive Board Member, Unit Chairman, and was also a Charter member. He gave unselfishly of his time and talent in making the
Local Union an effective voice for all EL's. He showed great leadership in time of trial in this Local Union. His personal examples have taught
respect and concern for all people.
Eligibility - The Bill Andreeff Scholarships are open to the sons and daughters of members who have been in good standing for 4 years in Local
2228. Applicants must be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program.
Qualifications - Applications must be submitted to the Local on an official application form. Along with the application form, applicants
must submit records of academic achievement, High School and College levels or University level work (if any), to assist the Selection Committee
in its evaluations. All academic records and transcripts must be accompanied by an explanation of marking system used, unless such explanatory
notes are clearly printed on the face of the records.
Applicants are required to submit a complete personal resume of their notable academic activities to date.
Applicants are required to submit two papers,
(NOTE: Judges are looking for concrete proposals. The volunteer aspect should be seen as a contribution to others, and not as self-serving.)
Applicants must submit letters of recommendations from at least two sources of reference (NOT FAMILY MEMBERS) who are familiar with the
abilities and performance records. The sources of reference should be from persons of recognized standing and reliability with whom the
Selection of Winners - An independent Scholarship Committee, composed of recognized academic and/or professional representatives
will examine the complete record of each scholarship applicant.
Consideration will be given to transcripts of academic records, the essay, resume, and any other evidence (such as need). On the basis of these
factors, the Selection Committee will choose the winner of the "Bill Andreeff Scholarship" and will report the name to the Business Manager. The
winner will be notified and the name will be published in the "Electronic Group News". (ONE WINNER TO BE CHOSEN ANNUALLY).
Awards - The $1,500.00 award is to be used to help students complete their academic studies. The $1,500.00 will be awarded directly to the
