5.8.4. ATB<br />

In the ATB world a parametric table, or pectab, is used to display the data on the document.<br />

Migrating from ATB to <strong>BCBP</strong> requires reprogramming the pectab in the host to include a bar<br />

code.<br />

In the ATB model, the host sends the data as well as the pectab in order to print the ATB (see<br />

fig. 53). Format code W is the ATB2 magnetic stripes specifications defined in Resolution 722c<br />

attachment ‘C’.<br />

The ATB reader decodes the data stored in the magnetic stripe according to format code W and<br />

transmits the data to the boarding application (see fig. 54).<br />

Implementing <strong>BCBP</strong> natively means that the airline programmes the host so that it sends a<br />

<strong>BCBP</strong> stream (see fig. 55).<br />

The Terminal Emulator (see fig. 56) is upgraded so that at the boarding gate it handles the <strong>BCBP</strong><br />

stream in M format.<br />
