After the First pulse, the spin axis will continue to precess until a second pulse of equal magnitude and opposite direction is fired. The spin axis can be repositioned by selecting the timing of the second pulse. The first pulse is used to cause nutation at an angle of one-half the desired precession. The second pulse stops the nutation and provides the remaining half of the desired angle
