was available for comparison of the classifications
of 27,082 deaths, or 86.6 per cent
of the 31,275. For the relnainle, only one
type of information was found: for 2,001,
the death certificate only; and for 2,192
deaths, other informnation only, tile latter
being dleaths that were not registered or for
which no certificates were found. Data from
both sources of information were available
for higher proportions of the deaths occurring
in the postneonatal period (89.8 per
cent) and at 1-4 years of age (87.3) than
of neonatal deaths (82.6). Deaths in the
neonatal age group comprised 35.9 per cent
of the total included in this comlparative
study of assignmcnts.
