NEONATAL MORTALITY FROM CERTAIN COMPLICATIONS<br />

OF PREGNANCY AND CHILDBIRTH (769)<br />

Category 769, other complications <strong>of</strong> project. Table 47 gives totals for the 15<br />

pregnancy and childbirth, includes a group projects combined.<br />

Prematurerupture <strong>of</strong> inembranes,that is,<br />

<strong>of</strong> important miscellaneous conditions such<br />

as multiple pregnancy, premature rupture rupture occurring prior to onset <strong>of</strong> labor,<br />

<strong>of</strong> membranes, hydramnios, threatened was the underlying cause <strong>of</strong> 550 neonatal<br />

abortion, antepartum and intrapartum deaths in all 15 projects and an associated<br />

hemorrhage unspecified, and others. Table cause in an additional 162 (Table 47). Its<br />

46 and Figure 49 illustrate the magnitude importance as underlying or associated<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>mortality</strong> from these conditions in the cause lies mainly in its role as triggering<br />

various projects. The neonatal death rates factor in premature delivery (spontaneous<br />

or provoked rupture <strong>of</strong> membranes) and as<br />

from all these conditions combined varied<br />

between 599.3 per 100,000 live births in a very common cause <strong>of</strong> ascendent intra­<br />

San Juan Province and 244.6 in the Bolivia uterine infection when the rupture ig pro-
