THE <strong>MINERALOGY</strong> OF ANTIMONY.<br />

Native Antimony.<br />

Composition.—Sb.<br />

Properties.—JUiombohcdral. Usually massive, with a very dis<br />

lamellar structure ; sometimes granular. Colour and streak tin-whito.<br />

Brittle. H. = 3-3-5. G. - 6-6-6-75.<br />

Occurrence.—Antimony has been found native in ferruginous min<br />

water (Will), in coal, and in the sands of rivers (Campbell). The<br />

impurities found associated with it arc generally silver, iron, and<br />

arsenic. It occurs in veins of silver and other ores in Dauphiny,<br />

Bohemia, Sweden, tho Harz, Mexico, and Now Brunswick.<br />

Allemontite.<br />

Composition.—SbAs3.<br />

Properties.—Rhomb'ohedral, Roniform masses and amorph<br />

structure curved lamellar, sometimes granular. II. = #*5. G. » 6'!^-<br />

6'203. Lustre metallic, sometimes dull. Colour tin-whito or reddish<br />

gray, sometimes tarnished to brownish black. It omits fumes of As<br />

and Sb "before tho blowpipe.<br />

Occurrence.—It occurs at Allomont, Pifibram in Bohemia, Schlad<br />

ming in Styria, and Androasborg iu tho liarz.<br />

Ammiolite.<br />

Composititm.—Uivot's analysis of similar mineral from (.Jhili gave :<br />
