An alloy of lead and antimony is used.<br />

13. Miscellaneous Uses.<br />

(a) If fluoride of antimony is heated with the sulphide, the sulphochloride<br />

is formed. It is used in medicine, or as a corrosive and<br />

macerating agent for wool.<br />

(6) It has been proposed to use beurre tfantimoine in the manufacture<br />

of matches without phosphorus.<br />

(c) Oxide of antimony is used in the manufacture of artistic<br />

abat-jour (lamp-shades) and reflecteur en verre jawne opaque (yellow<br />

opaque glass reflector).<br />

(d) Antimony salts, particularly combined with fibrocol,* are very<br />

good antiseptics for incorporation with lime-wash and with the<br />

paste t used in the papiers couches of painters.<br />

(e) Thermo-electric couples.<br />
