10-Year Facilities Plan Community Survey<br />

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board in cooperation with Department staff have developed a proposal for a<br />

10-year facilities plan for repair and replacement of current facilities and development of new facilities to serve<br />

growth in the community. A draft of the plan, including a map of proposed project locations, is available for review<br />

online at parks.lincoln.ne.gov and at the community open house on November 12, 2013 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the<br />

Parks and Recreation Administration building.<br />

We invite you to take a few minutes to complete this <strong>survey</strong>. Please only circle one answer per line.<br />

1. NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS<br />

Neighborhood Parks are smaller parks in neighborhoods that typically include play equipment, a park shelter, a play<br />

court (e.g., half basketball court), walkways, open lawn area and trees. There are 49 neighborhood parks in Lincoln.<br />

Please consider the condition of the improvements in the neighborhood parks you visit. For example, is the play<br />

equipment in good working order and are the sidewalks in good condition?<br />

2. COMMUNITY PARKS<br />

Community parks are medium size parks that typically include sports fields, play equipment, a park shelter, play courts<br />

(e.g., half basketball court), drinking fountain, restrooms, walkways, and off street parking. There are 18 community<br />

parks in Lincoln including Densmore Park and Sports Field, Oak Lake, University Place, Mahoney Park and Tierra/Briarhurst<br />

Park.<br />

Please consider the condition of the improvements in the regional parks you visit. For example, is the play equipment<br />

in good working order, and restrooms and drinking fountains operational, and are the sidewalks in good condition?<br />

3. REGIONAL PARKS<br />

Regional parks are large parks with special attractions. There are four regional parks including Pioneers Park, Holmes<br />

Park, Antelope Park and Union Plaza.<br />

in good working order, and restrooms and drinking fountains operational, and are the sidewalks in good condition?<br />

4. TRAILS<br />

There are 131 miles of trails used for fitness, recreation and functional trips such as commuting to work and running<br />

errands.<br />

significant cracks?<br />

5. OUTDOOR PUBLIC POOLS<br />

There are nine outdoor public pools in Lincoln ranging in age from more than 50 years in service to 12 years in service.<br />

These pool facilities include Star City Shores, Woods Pool, Irvingdale Pool, University Place pool and the Trago Sprayground.<br />

Please consider the condition of the pool facilities that you visit. For example, is the bathhouse in good repair, are the<br />

slides and diving boards in good condition, and are the sidewalks and parking lots in good condition?<br />

6. RECREATION AND COMMUNITY CENTERS<br />

There are seven recreation and community centers operated by the Lincoln Parks and Recreation Department. Three<br />

centers are co-located with schools and four are free-standing buildings. These include the Ager Play Center, Pioneers<br />

Park Nature Center, F Street and Belmont recreation centers.<br />

Please consider the condition of the recreation and community center facilities that you visit. For example, is the exterior<br />

of the building in good repair, are the flooring and carpets in good condition, and are the sidewalks and parking<br />

lots in good condition?<br />

The Parks and Recreation Department manager more than 91,000 public trees along Lincoln’s streets including planting,<br />

trimming, and removal of dead and damaged trees.<br />
