scenery of her home, while the woman’s words lead specifically to her bed<br />

While different translators render appropriately with ‘myrrh’,<br />
our translator offers <strong>in</strong>stead ‘saffron’, which is used only one other<br />
time <strong>in</strong> the <strong>LXX</strong>, for (Cant 4:14). It would seem that the translator did<br />
not have a different Vorlage, nor did he have a problem with the mean<strong>in</strong>g of<br />
.Rather, s<strong>in</strong>ce he obviously calculated the parallelism that he created, he<br />
found it more appropriate to couple c<strong>in</strong>namon with saffron rather than with<br />
myrrh.<br />
