Steward for cause shall not be limited in any manner by this provision;<br />

such Steward shall be subject to the provisions of Paragraph 62,<br />

“Seniority;” such preference in layoff or recall shall not apply on the<br />

sixth or seventh day worked in such Steward’s workweek or holidays,<br />

nor to station jobs, nor where it would disturb the continuity of a project;<br />

and such Steward shall not have such preference over employees who<br />

have been specially rehearsed or cued for a job, nor persons operating<br />

specialized equipment.<br />

Under this provision, only one such Steward may ordinarily be<br />

designated who will have such preference in layoff and rehire as<br />

provided above. This does not preclude the Union from appointing<br />

“acting” Stewards, but such employees shall not be considered, in any<br />

manner whatsoever, as Stewards hereunder for the purpose of preference<br />

in layoff and rehire, as above provided, unless the Steward entitled to<br />

such preference in layoff and rehire is on vacation or on distant location<br />

in which case an “acting” Steward designated by the Union shall be<br />

accorded such preference in layoff and rehire. The Union shall notify<br />

Producer in advance of any such appointment. In those instances in<br />

which there is more than one Steward, both Stewards shall have equal<br />

preference in layoff and rehire.<br />

55. Employment of Gang Bosses<br />

Studio<br />

Gang Boss rates will be paid to those workers designated by the<br />

Producer to take charge of a crew of employees or a project. The<br />

Producer will not unreasonably fail to designate a Gang Boss on such<br />

jobs or projects that require Gang Boss supervision.<br />

Distant Location<br />

When local drivers are hired on a production on distant location in<br />

the thirteen (13) Western states (Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana,<br />

Idaho, Utah, Wyoming, Colorado, California, Nevada, Arizona, New<br />

Mexico and Hawaii), Producer shall either assign a Gang Boss subject to<br />

the provisions of Paragraph 62, "Seniority," to the production or shall<br />

designate a Gang Boss in Los Angeles who shall be paid not less than<br />

the number of hours worked each day by the local gang boss on the<br />

production.<br />

56. Leaves of Absence<br />

A regular employee’s request for a leave of absence not to exceed<br />

six (6) months will be given consideration by the Producer, and the<br />
