ART. XXVI, SEC. 6<br />
basis regarding the affairs of Canadian Joint Councils<br />
and <strong>Local</strong> Unions. The President of <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada<br />
shall report to the General Executive Board at its regular<br />
meetings concerning developments in Canada.<br />
(b). The President of <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada shall be consulted<br />
with respect to mergers of Canadian <strong>Local</strong><br />
Unions, the adjustment of the jurisdiction of Canadian<br />
affiliates, issuance or revisions of charters of Canadian<br />
affiliates, and such other matters as affect the affiliates of<br />
the International Union in Canada. Action to revoke or<br />
suspend the charter of a Canadian affiliate shall only be<br />
undertaken after the President of <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada has<br />
been consulted and given an opportunity to resolve the<br />
problems.<br />
The Executive Board of <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada shall be<br />
authorized to take action on matters regarding service<br />
contracts, affiliation agreements, mutual aid, and assistance<br />
pacts, subject to the approval of the General<br />
Executive Board. <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada may negotiate the<br />
affiliation of other independent labour organizations<br />
with the International Union, subject to the approval of<br />
the General Executive Board.<br />
(c). In the event the General President determines<br />
that conditions exist that would require the imposition of<br />
a trusteeship over a Canadian affiliate, he shall consult<br />
with the President of <strong>Teamsters</strong> Canada and seek his<br />
assistance in resolving the problems before exercising<br />
his authority under Article VI, Section 5 of the<br />
<strong>Constitution</strong>. This shall not prevent the General<br />
President from taking immediate action where, in his<br />
discretion, the facts indicate the existence of a situation<br />
that is imminently dangerous to the <strong>Local</strong> Union,<br />
International Union, or any affiliate. In such a situation,<br />
