thickness or offer a change in the generic type of coating or flooring specified.
Bidders desiring to use coatings and flooring other than those specified shall submit those with
their proposal based on the specified materials, together with the information from above and
indicate the sum which will be added to or deducted from the base bid should alternate materials
be accepted.
Products for each specified function and system shall be of a single manufacturer.
Materials
Tnemec Series 237 Power-Tread epoxy primer and basecoat.
Tnemec Series 280 Tneme-Glaze epoxy intermediate coat.
Material Preparation
Mix materials according to manufacturer's latest printed instructions paying particular attention
to mixing times and temperatures.
Do not use materials beyond manufacturer's recommended pot life or shelf life.
Pre-work Inspection
Examine surfaces to be coated and report conditions that would adversely affect appearance or
performance of systems and which cannot be put into an acceptable condition by preparatory
work as specified.
Surface Preparation
Concrete/Tile Floors:
Allow new concrete to cure for 28 days.
Mechanically shotblast floor to remove all laitance, curing compounds, and surface
contaminants, and to provide a uniform minimum surface profile of a CSP 3-5 as noted in ICRI
Guideline 03732. Fill all bugholes and cracks with a recommended surfacer.
After shotblasting, verify that all surfaces are clean, dry and free of any contaminants that could
adversely affect the adhesion of the flooring system as detailed in SSPC-SP 13/NACE No. 6
Application
Materials shall be mixed and applied according to manufacturer's latest printed instructions.
Apply a 4” rolled radius cove base at all walls for thin film system unless indicated otherwise on
drawings.
Allow flooring systems to cure fully in accordance with manufacturer's instructions prior to
allowing traffic.
